OUR GOALS
Our most important goal is to foster a more open conversation about anxiety in high school. Too often, teens don’t feel comfortable talking about their anxiety. Far too often, parents or teachers
tell kids not to worry, that their fears are irrational, and try to reassure them that they have nothing to be nervous about. Our goal is to try and change that.
Let's Face It
Almost every teenager is anxious about starting High School. There are social pressures and general fear about new social situations: new school, new kids, new teachers, bigger environment...
Nervousness about these obvious social pressures is compounded by the feeling that High School is the first real step towards being an adult, worrying about life after high school or worrying about higher education.
Having some level of anxiety is perfectly normal, for people of all ages, and is even helpful in protecting us in the event we are faced with a dangerous situation.
But for those of us for whom anxiety is a part of daily life, it is a real problem, and can at times even be debilitating or incapacitating.
But there are effective strategies to help cope with anxiety, and that’s why we are JustHere2Help.
